This playful, entirely hand-sculpted ceramic figure of a playful,  male hound is signed Blair 1988 and measures 4 1/2” tall x 8 1/2 1/4” x 5” and has an irresistable, goofy  expression. John Blair (1925-2015) was a long-time Kokomo, Indiana resident and supervisor at American Standard/Ceramics division (they made toilets and sinks)…so he knew his ceramics from the ground up. Largely self-taught, for over 40 years he produced whimsical, hand crafted figures for friends and family. Dogs were his favorite subject (he knew these from the ground up as well: he and his wife were obedience trainers/ companion dog trainers) and he imbues them with the joy and personality that only one who loves dogs can fully appreciate.
