A great strike, centering, and wonderful surfaces are the foundation of this piece, but the tall, detailed and nearly full crest are what sets it apart.
***I want to thank the two ebayers who took the time to message us. I took your advice and took a look at the other crested attic Tetradrachm listed by our competitors. It was an eye opener, and you are correct, many are pure junk, many have misleading ad titles, ie: Full Crest. If it’s not marked on the NGC holder “Full Crest” then it’s not a Full Crest no matter what the ad says. Folks when you are buying these you want a large or near full crest, one that’s large and sweeping all the way down to the neck area, or as close as you can come to that. You want to avoid low profile crests no matter what the technical grade is, the crest and it’s size, is the primary concern. No one wants
a
low profile, or no crest MS coin. Now true full crest coins are a fortune, but you can find a beautiful near full crest coin for half or a third of the money. After you find a nice large or near full crest, your next concern is the flan shape, you want an attractive flan, as close to round as possible, not mis-shaped or oval, and way off round. Put these two things together and you will have a prime piece.
