    Description

BOULDER BAY THIMBLES- PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BELOW - Hand crafted FIMO thimbles - Millefiori and most have
Butterflies, hummingbirds, scarlet macaw, or ladybugs.
The description below was for the small millefiori hand crafted FIMO thimbles listed earlier this week, auctions starting at a bargain price. These thimbles were crafted a year later after I found some porcelain thimble blanks. But as those other thimbles were a bit smaller than normal size (7/8") these are larger (1 1/8" to 1 3/16"). They also have a super start price.
I'm an artist who has collected thimbles for over 50 years. About 15 years ago I started making thimbles out of FIMO Polymer clay and began selling them on Ebay. Hand crafted thimbles are great for avid collectors. Once thimble collectors reach the point where they see few manufactured Bone China and Porcelain thimbles that they are interested in for their collection and they often start mini-collections (Mine are Cats, Nicholas Gish pewter, Huichol crafted, Ancient Egypt and glass - to say a few). And many choose hand crafted, hand painted, unusual materials, etc thimbles because they are OOAK (One of a Kind).
The thimbles I am offering today were made by my best friend in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. About 7 or 8 years ago I asked him (Silvestre - translated in English to Sylvester) if he wanted to learn how to make thimbles. He was fascinated
with the process and was very happy to become a thimble maker like me. He was a quick study and now makes some wonderful thimbles. He makes a lot of hand crafted or shaped thimbles and he really has surpassed me when it comes to making animal thimbles and unique shapes.
There is a story about these thimbles. I go to Puerto Vallarta once or twice each year, spending 3 to 4 months each year in a leased casita. I normally go in winter and though I am late this year I'm hoping I can go down for my 19th consecutive year. Puerto Vallarta didn't have a good source for porcelain thimble blanks for us to cover. Luckily, for this batch I did find nice porcelain blanks. This group of Boulder Bay thimbles are new, never listed, just boxed and stored... and I found them stashed in my closet earlier this week. They are priced low, good if you want to buy for resale (just give Boulder Bay Thimbles credit when you list. Also an inexpensive way to find out if they are something you would like to collect. Maybe this would be your first time buying a FIMO thimble, or have purchased from another seller and were dissatisfied with the quality. Hope you like them because I have 100-200 I will eventually offer. I think this gives enough background, as I tend to provide TMI (Too Much Informeation). But if you have any questions just send a message. Thanks for visiting our auctions.
